About

We are currently looking for a Payroll Specialist for our Construction Company. This position is part of a team that is responsible for processing in-house payroll for 300-500 employees in compliance with applicable personnel policies, collective bargaining agreements and state/federal regulations.

The is an immediate full time position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and assistance to other members of the team and serve as back-up support
  • Process Weekly Payroll
  • Collective bargaining monthly reporting
  • Tax reporting, weekly/semi-weekly/monthly and quarterly
  • Supports internal and external audit requests pertaining to payroll
  • Maintains current knowledge of Federal, State, Local and multi-union payroll regulations and taxation, including those related to employee benefits
  • has thorough knowledge of the following in order to troubleshoot issues, train and provide guidance to other team members on the following:
  • Maintain accurate employee records
  • Maintain company level tables (earnings, deductions, liabilities, union classification, etc.)
  • Routine time and payroll record audits
  • Weekly certified payroll reporting
  • Weekly internal labor reporting
  • Calculate and prepare layoff/termination checks
  • Complete VOE requests
  • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary
  • Setup payroll tables within software for payroll processing

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to effectively, professionally, and diplomatically interface at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
  • Self-motivated, hard-working and performance-driven
  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve and use technology to improve efficiency
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and union regulations
  • Able to assist with audits, reconciliations and year end processing

Education

  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience (multi-state, union, construction contractor preferred)
  • FPC or CPP designation preferred
  • Experience with Vista and Viewpoint software a HUGE plus
